Adding Custom Recipes to AceBartender 1. You can add as many custom recipes as you wish. We tested this feature with about 165 custom recipes and with AceBartender V5 running with all lists loaded, about 3MB of program memory was used. There will obviously be a point where the number of custom recipes can cause you to run out of program memory. This will require you to reduce the custom recipes list or submit them to us be included in the main AceBartender database where they can be encoded and compressed. 2. Your custom recipes will be included in the Search mode and you can save them in your Favorites list along with any of the 2400 AceBartender recipes. However in this version, custom recipes are not included in the OnHand list nor the Ingredient searches (Contains mode). MyRecipes.txt To create and maintain your custom list of recipes, you simply create a file on your Pocket PC or 'bigger' PC using any text editor such as notepad, and follow a few simple rules. 1. The file must be named MyRecipes.txt and must reside in the folder on you PocketPC where you originally installed AceBartender, if you selected the default it will be in :Program Files\AceBartender 2. Enclose the {DrinkName} in curly braces, and do not use them in any other place in the recipe: 3. Following the {DrinkName} line, enter the recipe lines any way you like. You may want to split long lines to minimize the need to scroll when viewing your recipe with AceBartender. 4. Use // at the beginning of a line to add a comment that is not used in AceBartender. You can use it to indicate who or where you got it or whatever. // got this one from Rich (will not show on AceBartender) {Rich's Special *} Rocks With Ice 1 oz Amaretto 1 oz Brandy 1/2 oz Cream 5. Blank lines are also ignored so you can space out your recipes. If you want to add a blank line to your recipe as it appears while running AceBartender, simply enter a line that begins with a period (.). (See sample). Hints: Notice the * next to the right brace in the drink names. I suggest you do that for your custom recipes to make them easy to search by and recognize. Since there are no recipes in the AceBartender database that have a * in the drink name, this will be an easy way for you to identify them by simply searching on *. Then you will be able to scroll through your list and verify how the recipes look ok on the screen and modify if needed. This will also eliminate any confusion if there is already a drink with the exact name in the AceBartender database. You may see a line that is too long and may want to split it. Sample MyRecipes.txt Here is a sample you can copy and paste into your text editor and save as MyRecipes.txt. Then use ActiveSync to 'Explore' your 'Mobile Device', 'My Pocket PC', '\Program Files\AceBartender' and copy MyRecipes.txt there. AceBartender will load your custom recipes whenever it is started. If AceBartender is running, select File-Reload MyRecipes to update your list at anytime. To verify (assuming you include the * in the drink name), search for * in the Search Mode. Click for Sample |
