AceBartender Screen Shots / Tutorial

These screens are a mix from the HP Jornada 548 and iPaq 3600 running AceBartender V5.
AceBartender V5 has some new features and 2400 recipes.

This tutorial is broken into 4 pages
Page 1 (this page) - Search and Favorites Functions
The Search mode lets you search for a recipe by name.
The Favorites mode lets you keep a list of favorite recipes.

Page 2 On-hand Functions
The On-hand lists drinks you can make with your personal bar stock.

Page 3 Contains and Help Functions
The Contains mode is where you can see what drinks contain selected ingredient.

Page 4 Settings and Profiles
Profiles feature lets you maintain totally separate lists for friends, relatives, whatever; so when you visit them you can get them to make you something from their bar. Maybe you have a different bar stock in a vacation home. You can keep favorites lists of important friends or clients.

Tips
  • Always exit AceBartender from the File->Exit menu to ensure saving all your data.


  • The mode menu is where you do all the function selections. The bar at the top of the screen will always indicate what mode you are currently working in.


  • The Action Wheel/Buttom can be used to browse the drink list for near one handed operation.


  • Always have whipped cream on hand for the coffee drinks - most of them use it.


  • To see the non-alcohol drinks search for (na) in search mode.

Tutorial Page 1 - Search and Favorites Functions

When you start AceBartender, this splash screen is displayed.

Click the Ok icon to continue. (Actually you can click anywhere on the screen).

The main search screen will be displayed.

You can view this screen anytime via the File->Intro menu option.

Enter any text to search for. The search matches letters anywhere in the drink name. For example just enter marg. Click Go (or the Enter key icon on the keyboard) to initiate the search.

AceBartender will search through the 2400 drink names for all matches.

Search with a blank entry will bring up ALL 2400 recipes.

Select the Mode->Search menu to get back to the search mode from any of the other modes

Here are the results for the search for marg. Notice that the characters marg appear in all the drink names thus all the Margarita drinks are shown.

Click any drink name to see the recipe.

Click on the P to pick a recipe randomly.

Click Mode->New Search to enter a new search. Try searching mart and sex.

To follow the tutorial, scroll down to Virgin Margarita. To scroll, you can use the scroll bar on the screen or your action wheel/buttom.

If you had clicked on Virgin Margarita you would see this screen. (na) means non alcohol drink.

Since the small screen can be hard to read, you can select among 4 font sizes.

This is the Medium size font. Select Large for a more readable size.

Your font setting is saved in your profile.

The 2 arrow icons on the bottom panel are used to browse the list of recipes forward and back.

Click on the F+ icon to add the current drink to your favorites list.

Click anywhere on the recipe panel to return to the drink list screen.

All modes have identical drink recipe interfaces. Click Mode->New Search to enter a new search.

Browse the recipes and add some to your Favorites list.

The Favorites mode is simply a list of recipes that you can save for any purpose - party lists, friends favorites etc.

If you had saved some recipes in your list during the tutorial, you can view them now:

Select Mode->Favorites

Your favorites are saved in the current profile.

You can save any number of different lists by creating multiple profiles (discussed later in the tutorial).

You can browse the list or remove one by clicking the Remove button.

Notice the caption Owner Favorites on the bottom of the screen. This the default profile's favorites list.

Now for the on-hand part.

Select Mode->On-Hand where you will select the ingredients you have on hand to see the drinks you can make from them.
